Unveiling an Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop in a Mission to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and players have encountered numerous interesting creations from small studios. But, one catches the eye for its quirky concept. Called Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game lets you play a character that is actually a piece of poop trying to navigate to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" is Japanese for "poop."

How you interact is easy to grasp: just use a jump control. Across numerous stages, you'll face boss fights and visit a shop to acquire outfits for your dung hero.

Execute your jumps precisely, as a mistake requires beginning again. Bounce using floating orbs to launch yourself higher, traverse crumbling ledges, and touch triggers to reveal hidden paths. Collect currency and use them on tougher levels where things gets crazy.

In terms of design, the experience shows off vibrant level designs and catchy background music. The retro visual style with shifting geometric shapes evokes memories of gamers of classic titles like Earthbound.

Although tough to recall previous releases where you control a dung character, video games frequently featured toilet humor. For example, in Death Stranding, you can craft grenades from protagonist droppings. Titles such as Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. Naturally, such content shows up extensively in Obsidian's role-playing game The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned significant recognition, like taking top honors at Bandai Namco's indie contest in 2023. A playable preview is ready currently on Steam, with the full game planned to debut on Steam this November.
